O to be a Dream
O to be a dream
Never disappointing
Because you are never what you seem
Imagined as the most wondrous
A tempest of delight
To spin and twirl
In your lover’s mind
Each and every night
A knight if she supposes
Polite in all the docile poses
Ever equipped with roses
Protecting her maidenhood anew
All these things and more
Each night as she dreams of you
As the plot continues- the night wanes to dawn
She moves to kiss nocturnal wish
And the clamor rages on
It’s 6 o’clock
The sun is up
And the man of her dreams is gone
Not far it seems- but down the hall
To let the dogs out on the lawn
