Temper and Dispassion

November 21st, 2009 | Category: Poem

The best you can do is stare at the place where he stood

Imagine you see his smile directed your way

Imagine you can hear his laugh roll quite easily

The future is a hard and cold master

And it has found you alone and lost

A victim of your temper and dispassion

As you host selfishness and sickness to a seat

At the table of your heart

There to keep and sleep in each other’s arms

Tears recall how you used to be

When soft and caring meant something

And cold and staring was locked deep in the winter of your despair

But you don’t feel the burn of concern

If love can’t make a home – hate will do just fine
