The Flight of the Honeybee

November 08th, 2009 | Category: Poem

The flight of the honeybee looks erratic

At first glance and consideration

Knowing the intent to spread beauty and grace

Underlies wisdom in this vision

So not the pace or route she takes

But more closely the beauty she recuperates

The honeybee flies for you

The flight of the honeybee is not her own

Like the mother she has other goals

Service to others before self

As the wind blows for the rain and not for gain

A gentle touch and a kiss and she is gone

The flowers bend towards her in anticipation

Others like them will be grown

The flight of the honeybee duplicates

That erstwhile curve of a sky full of light

By day or night she plays her part

In God’s effervescent plan of color and aromatic wonder

Guiding victory to sight and smell

Her senses serve so well

As does the sting she guards with life

Only without understanding

Does she seem without plan

Those that look and know

See the beauty and understand

She flies for you and she flies for me

She changes the world with a touch

The honeybee blesses and gives so much
