Cooling Quickly and Aloof

Category: Poem

Sunlight glimmers on the petals
Of the flower as the wind gently
Touches it and then moves on
Playing across another flower
Nearby but far away
If you consider the journey it has taken
To live and grow where it does
Under the same sunlight
And in the same wind
But different as day from night

Moonlight dances across the water
Waves are pulled up by the touch
Of its ardent lunar lover
White are the caps as if smiling in response
To the gentle kiss and caress
Of so lonely a lady
Waltzing heavenly and nodding in our direction
Glowing at night perpetually
In constant affection
Following the sun each day as if connected

Different but connected
Day and Night
Dark and Light
Playing and dancing
Over water and on the petals of a flower
Day by day and hour by hour
Night follows quickly and the seconds pass
It is all dust and embers
Crushed but red from passion
Cooling quickly and aloof
