Blood and Snow

Category: Poem

Snow melts when it touches sorrow
Runs as tears down your cheek
When you think about tomorrow
Cherry blossom bleeding hollow
Screams unheard in the night
Sensing fevered pain and anguish
All things are not good or right
Blood and snow mixing at my feet
A shadow mutes the beauty
The sun crossing overhead
Slow but certain about its duty
Sadness blossoms at night
Red petals covered with midnight snow
The moon dances twinkling her light across the white
Revealing my footprints as I go
The path is long and she won’t wait for long
But I must go to her while the pain is young
The wind howls against his progress
With each step forcing rest
Screaming “red planet” he remembers the time
The tears dried blood red on his face
There was no wind then- to hold him up
He moved in rhythm with wanderlust
Ancient emanations pulsed in time
In vacuum the echoes filled his mind
And still he is no closer to her
She passed by him with her own frozen sorrow
Driven by the cold and bloody rain
Covered in her deepest pain
She looked warm and afraid if he but saw
His tears would renew their flow
Maybe if he survives
He can try again tomorrow
The blood and snow comes every day
In this world not so far away
