Marsquake
Screaming “red planet”
The tears dry blood red on his face
There is no wind to hold him up
He moves in rhythm with wanderlust
Ancient emanations pulse in time
In vacuum the echoes fill his mind
Molten iron ejects erratic
As the planet vibrates and hums in static
Swelling terror causes panic
Leaving hope confused and abandoned
Gamma rays impacting random
As hope fades it leaves him stranded
Galactic loss and forlorn tremors
Telling all that it remembers
Broken past and shattered present
Olympus Mons is taking credit
Shielding me from her brazen stare
Melting in the lava’s glare
Tharsis holds him ever fast
Reddest doom and neverlast
Creeping lanquid indecision
Magma forms his Martian prison
Screaming “red planet” once again
He sees Earth set before the end
