Wide Eyed and In Her Wake

March 12th, 2009 | Category: Poem

She passes when the sun is overhead
No shadow but stirs the air
Eyes flaring like supernova
Hurricane swirling in her hair
Tempestuous fury trails closest
In her wake is apoptosis
Passing wonder and great attractor
Dancing wavelength mimics laughter
What is it that this girl is after?

Often empty contemplation
She mourns the sudden devastation
As she finds her romance lacking
The hounds of hell begin attacking
It isn’t her fault she destroys the world
Tidal waves form with just one word
All is well when she’s in phase
Once it comes every thirty days
Crashing on us like that tidal wave

She passes more than once each day
Traveling along an ancient way
And if she’ll pause her course creation
To dance with me in complication
Laughter oft precedes disaster
The world at her feet- no other place to be
Does she even notice me?
I can’t help feeling my mistake
When I’m wide eyed and in her wake
