Vox Demonic: Requiem

Category: Poem

Translation for the Latin in this poem:

Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine
(Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord)
Et lux perpetua luceat eis
(And let perpetual light shine upon them)
Ab omni vinculo delictorum
(From all the chains of their sins)
Libera animas omnium fidelium defunctorum
(Free the souls of all the faithful departed)
De pœnis inferni et de profundo lacu
(From infernal punishment and the deep pit)

Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine
Show evil and perdition the only Way
Et lux perpetua luceat eis
Rise above unholy rancor by standing on the marble dais
Ab omni vinculo delictorum
With heavy chains and fetters abhor them
Libera animas omnium fidelium defunctorum
From utter void and beyond decorum
De pœnis inferni et de profundo lacu
The Unholy Beast torments to distract you

Life is but a dream – I make the Earth fall apart
LaPlace’s Daemon also knows my heart
He traces with Newton the courses of your action
Infernal torment leads to utter destruction

Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine
Set me apart for sacrifice this day
Et lux perpetua luceat eis
Dismember in abyss and scream to please us
Ab omni vinculo delictorum
Lash my wrists with burnt hair and score them
Libera animas omnium fidelium defunctorum
Leave me broken and bled at sanctum sanctorum
De pœnis inferni et de profundo lacu
Look in my eyes and make me hate you

The sky’s gone out – I make the Earth fall apart
Descarte’s Daemon causes doubt
He fills the water with worms and vomit
Fire and ice issue from the comet

You never know
