mighty flash and ever last
mighty flash and ever last
the righteous have just fallen
the spinning stopped as it began
here is a vortex for us to fall in
we scream we kick we gnaw we gnash
we contemplate a never ending spiral
we bite our tongue and spit out blood
the bitter taste of sanguine going viral
St. Ann the Tormentor
Betwixt and between
The moments I have as a free man
Is a flurry of beauty and eternal grace
From my tormentor Saint Ann
I lay still in bed at night
Silent while awake
I see Saint Ann’s shadow over me
My soul is hers and hers alone to take
My eyes sense her over me
Hands splayed across my chest
I yield to her in mind and deed
Though she hesitates to let me rest
I hardly surrender in my dreams
But she does what she can
It’s hard to fight against the fear
Emanating from Saint Ann
Blood and tears streak my face
I cry against the precepts of a man
The world seems dark and strange
When tormented by sweet Saint Ann
Saint Ann is not alone when she torments me
Dragons flash by in the twilight
Her sword arcs overhead
Claws scratch the earth as they take flight
She severs my soul from me in one cruel stroke
And I cry out with remembrance of past pleasures
There is no blood on her gown
But there is blood in her eyes
If I could change my fate by action
And rearrange my eternal plan
I’d not shield or hide my soul
From my tormentor Saint Ann
