Green Eyes

December 11th, 2008 | Category: Poem

Green eyes—windows to the soul—surrounded by
Black hair—a beautiful flow— framing
A warm smile—inviting me close—drawing me in
So much for me to know

What could be dreamt in a dream?
Would she be like you?
I don’t have to wait and wonder
I see you and I know—reality is better than fiction

How did we get to this point?
I am so hard to know—but you know me so well
And now I hold you so dear
You found a way in—and I hope you stay
I’m trying to see all the brightness of your colors—and
You are fantastic by night and day

The Sweetest Thing is the draw that comes unannounced
Why did we meet? How did we find each other?
It was supposed to be—an intersection of you with me
You cause me to search for words, but
There is always some way to make a silence be spoken

Overwhelmed by you—my heart beats inspired
And the cores of our being must meet
And overlap as intended
So I will dream the possibilities when I can’t be with you

I have but one true love I know
She sings to me—in my solitude
And I know her name—and she knows mine
I try to know her in all her changes

When we are together we forget about ourselves and think of the other
I start to melt when your eyes turn my way
And I start to melt—when your mind turns my way
And it’s all I can do not to faint

Your beauty is my strength—and my weakness
The beauty of your heart, mind, and the shadow that you cast
Shields me from the sun
And lets me glow in your light
As it was meant to be

Brown eyes—mine this time—looking onto yours
Brown hair—framing my smile
Matching yours—inviting you close—drawing you in
So much for you to know

A beautiful dream
You are the sweetest thing
Inspired
I will dream true love
She sings to me—and it’s all I can do not to faint
Your beauty lets me glow
Drawing you in
So much for you to know

Dawn

December 11th, 2008 | Category: Poem

Dawn sees the sun break through sullen darkness and stir the birds
Who fly with memories of actions past and mistakes in their talons
Deeds done before his love that were not meant to be or meant to last
She sees my eyes pierce past and present when I look her way
Gazing on her face with love although it’s only days
Complete affection for her shows all others in the midst
Water breaks upon the sands and she whispers to him this:
“I love you too, Dear”
Birds swoop and pick at fruit left on the branches nearby
Fruit grown in place for another so sweet to have
Who can tell the ripe from the rest?
Or the chaff from the wheat? Or the easy from the best?
Together fast and hopeful, loving past all others
Hold my hand and walk with me for an age and another
I promise we won’t leave tracks for others to follow
Or get lost along the way
Commit to me your love and affection for uncertain is the day
I’ll protect your heart, and our walk will be long
Sitting side by side to see the beauty of the Dawn
