The Nymph and the Honeybee

October 29th, 2008 | Category: Poem

The flutter of wings tell a tale if you listen
Of natural collaboration and sweat that glistens
On the wings of the humble, hardworking honeybee
Flowers give what they must while the honeybee gently takes
Together yielding nectar after while
The sweetest way to make a smile

Struggle, sorrow, victory, and celebration
Flowers feel her touch with anticipation
The world is sweeter when two worlds collide
Time passes and the sun moves overhead
Honeybee, what do you see?

She walks and the flowers turn her way
Her melody causes trees to sway
Her smile lights the fields and brings the day
Honeybee, what do you see?

Together in the field watching exuberant life
Alighted on her hand, the honeybee warmed by her breath
Honeybee, what do you see?

Melodic dance and symphony
Beautiful Nymph and Honeybee

Honeybee, what do you see?

The Cupboard is Empty

October 29th, 2008 | Category: Poem

A drastic grasp at the inevitable

Leaves you holding the obvious

And you close your eyes and cherish

Unable to protract or reflect

Now means all that it can

And the cupboard is empty

The curtains move in the breeze

And the water pours over cracked tile

The storm has entered the house

Lightning charges the air

Eyes wide in wonder with each flash

And the cupboard is empty

Quiet steps move closer to freedom

The doors creep open slowly

The sound almost loud enough to be heard

Wicked claps of thunder shred any peace

Fear fills the room with each moment

And the cupboard is empty

Holding dread at bay with effort

Comfort doesn’t come to you

The wind moves your hair

And you don’t care

The whispers come faster now

Unable to breath or turn you notice

The cupboard is empty

Memories race through corridors in your mind

Each turn slows remembrance

Time is short and it all fades

The doors slowly close as you approach

The cupboard is empty

But it once held hope in rows
