Death Won’t Come Quickly

August 28th, 2008 | Category: Poem

Not quite there
My eyelids frozen
Scared awake by the path I’ve chosen
Cold steel gleaming in my hand
Wet with blood and fear again

The world passes slowly beneath my feet
Death won’t come quickly this way

Almost content
With passing fancy
In my hand the cup of poison
A long drink and my lips are moistened

Almost awake
Breaths collapsing quickly
Hands choke her white
She’s pale and sickly
Destruction possessed by my fingers
Crushing grip intent to linger

The world passes slowly beneath my feet
Death won’t come quickly this way

Almost content
The fantasy smolders
All the while
My heart grows colder

Eyes wide open
Anger growing
Rope pulls tightly
Breathing slowing
She dies silent and alone
Her pain was ended long ago

The world passes slowly beneath my feet
Death won’t come quickly this way

Almost content
I’m cold and older
The fire in my eyes
No longer smolders

Lucidity is now my friend
She’s by my side
The killings end
Wide awake and hate departed
Too bad it’s come
After the killing started

The world passes slowly beneath my feet
Death won’t come quickly this way

Wisps

August 20th, 2008 | Category: Poem

Wisps

Wisps of her hair frame her face
But his love for her has no bounds
He watches the sparkles in her eyes
And he counts each one in turn
They represent the reasons he loves her
He touches her face and sees the world anew
His perspective changed by the feelings she evokes

She responds to his wonder and reaches for his hands
Her touch brings him to the day they met
When his heart was filled for the first time

He passed by her and stopped at once
Her beauty took his paceAnd in its’ place
He was struck with awe and amazement
He had not the courage or the words
But he had to hear her voice

I would like to know your name
And spend my time with you
As you pass into this realm
Just tell me what to do

It was true love expressed
His being consumed by hope
He waited for her to come to him
He anticipated her beauty like the rising of the sun
She was his Sunshine

He captured his feelings as words
Of love and care for her
He placed his prose into her care
And hoped for love returned

She filled his heart with hope and wonder
And her touches brought him joy

She was beside him now- walking with him
Hand in hand
Heart to heart
And would always be by his side
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

He looked over to her and noticed a strand of hair across her face
He pulled her close to him and kissed her gently
And moved the hair behind her ear, kissing her again
This time with passionate abandon
Her face was framed again as on the day they met
When she stopped him in his place

Sunshine and Sorrow were never friends
His heart was filled with one
And forever free of the other
