Heliopolis
Apexing the delta and the Nile, the City sits empty
Nestled in Augustamnica province holding Cleopatra’s Needle
The Pillars stand alone now- waiting for companionship
Actis, Son of Helios and Rhode built well but cannot sustain the life
Necessary to fill the streets with laughter and mirth
Ptolemy’s reign occupied the walls and halls for a time
And even now some approach- walking through lotus fields
Nymphaea lotus, Nymphaea cerulean, and Nelumbo nucifera
Closed at night and underwater- exposed by day to Amun-Ra
Obelisks in patches of overgrown grass surrounded by sand
Lead the way to Heliopolis Reborne
Entering the City transforms and resurrects you
Horus fed the masses with bread before and will soon again
Mouths of gods and goddesses approach nearer still
Amun-Ra notes their approach with waves of sunlit empathy
Alexander stopped on his way from Pelusium to Memphis
Drawn by the warmth of the people and magic in the air
Their tracks in the sand will pause at the gates before they enter
To bring life and love to the City of Pillars once again
Heliopolis will never be the same- and it doesn’t want to be
Above It All
Overhead and holding steady, Amun-Ra purveys
Rays of sunlight wash the city in a newness not seen for days
Heliopolis called forth to awakened gods of yesterday
And they heed its’ beckoning call
Once more relevant and powerful
It is the City of the Sun once again
Son of Earth and Sky appears below
Calling out in song to Sister Isis
Waking her from soulful slumber and her simplicity
Queen of Heaven – Mother of the Gods
Nepthys, Completer of her Sister, follows quietly
Disturbing not the dead nor the lotus flowers under foot
Her entrance to the city as the Lady of the Temple creates hope
And as the priests return they can worship and adore
Once more under the watchful gaze of Ra
The Citie’s Breath returns anew, Serket is a windy presence
Protecting Love and City with Aset and Nebet Het
Her Sisters in the City wake and sing in harmony
The Lioness Protector makes her way to Heliopolis
As if called by the song of the ages
Ancient rites and rituals called forth as flames peak and peer
Shadows roam the homes of many who return
Senwosret is made whole at the obilisk where they meet
Holding hands, eyes focused on the heat above
Re-Hekarte appeased as the city lives and hope returns
Ra peers from above and his lingering rays may burn
Indifference yields a passive care as his attention shifts
