The Way It Could Have Been

If I was a boy in your school…

Unencumbered I can wonder
If the present were torn sunder
What would change about the past
If only I had you to ask
“May I carry your books, Dear?”

To travel back to times ago
And find a present undiscovered
Seeing you in brightest bloom
Right next to your beauty I hovered
“May I sit by you, Dear?”

Many thoughts one can possess
About even the morrow
But yesterday is on my mind
More so than tomorrow
“May I hold your hand, Dear?”

Beyond the veil and mist of sorrow
I have a dream of another morrow
Different than the one today
We meet in a nearby park to play
“May I swing with you, Dear?”

Looking through a different window
Than the one right by my chair
I see you standing in my driveway
Pretty ribbon in your hair
“Come and talk with me, Dear?”

Seeing clearly what was shadowed
Tasting love that’s now forbidden
My feelings are no longer hidden
Thoughts of you my mind is ridden
“Come and kiss my lips, Dear?”

Taking what is offered, gladly
Loving you so very, madly
Not seeing you strikes me, sadly
Be with you I must, and badly
“Hold onto me forever, Dear?”

Today is here just like before
But I have you now and so much more
I have your books and hand in mine
We brought with us a perfect time
“See you on the morrow, Dear.”

The Quark and the Girl

May 17th, 2008 | Category: Poem

A quark is a generic type of physical particle that forms one of the two basic constituents of matter, the other being the lepton. Various species of quarks combine in specific ways to form protons and neutrons, in each case taking exactly three quarks to make the particle in question.
There are six different types of quark, usually known as flavors: up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom.

Strange
A world devoid of a girl like her
Would be Strange indeed
For when we have a girl like her
She’s all a boy would need

Charm
The world will reel and wobble
From my lover’s Charm
And when you see her beauty
You’d have her on your arm

Top
When it comes to class and alacrity
She is at the Top
Her meteor is quickly rising
And I don’t think that it’ll stop

Bottom
When it comes to selfish pride and haste
You know she hasn’t got them
For when you look upon that list
She’s always at the Bottom

Up
Life has its Ups and downs
There is no life without them
But with a girl like her around
Only ups you’ll find then

Down
She is joy unconstrained
Floating on a cloud of mirth
But when she sees me coming
She settles Down to earth
