Verisimilitude

April 28th, 2008 | Category: Poem

I’ve never met her but I don’t need to
She reaches out to me with word and deed
And thoughts of verisimilitude
A touch like that is as real as any other
And I know she speaks to me
I hear her voice when I need to
Our bond is laced with everlasting
And knotted with infinite understanding
We are together though we are apart
We share a waking dream
The two of us

I’ve never kissed her but I don’t need to
The wave of emotion from that touch
Comes to me anyway
And I am washed in peace and comfort when it does
She has that hold on my soul
But it is a gentle touch
We know each other
And our bond is implacable
We are together though we are apart
We share a waking dream
The two of us

I’ve never held her but I don’t need to
I hold her time and her attention
With interactions sublime
In a place-I am hers and she is mine
She occupies my thoughts in many certain ways
She has a place in my composition
And her beauty lights my days
She fixes my gaze like the dominant star
On our life’s horizon
And only her
Shall I forever keep my eyes on

I’ll never love another the way that I love her
And that’s the way it should be
We share a waking dream
The two of us

Majestic Trees

April 26th, 2008 | Category: Poem

Slowly reaching towards the heavens
Like so many of us with our lofty thoughts
As they reach up they provide shade and comfort
To those below
While we drag others along as if we must
They spread wide their arms and embrace all
While we cling to what belongs to us
They allow rest for the weary
We drive to the brink of exhaustion
And then continue on
They fill the sky with life and movement
We take and use and consume and destroy
They root to the earth in collaboration
While we command and conquer
We have so much to learn from them
It is a shame we burn them to be
A shame we consume them to prosper
While they give to us from what they have to give
And have enough to last with dignity
Until life collapses under the burden of taxation
Caused by corruption and condemnation
We are majesty
And They are Majestic All the While
