He Got it Wrong But They Got it Right
She knew what he was thinking before he said it. It made her pause and smile but he decided to say it anyway, “I love you.” She turned to him and as her green eyes sparkled as she beamed. He never tired of telling her how he felt and he looked for little ways to show it as often as he could. One time he wanted to listen to music that she liked so he could share her interest in that band. He got the band’s name from her and found two albums that he bought and listened to. To show her that he was now familiar with her music, he wrote her a note using lyrics from one of the songs he liked. He watched her face for signs of understanding as she read the note. She didn’t seem to recognize the reference and he asked her about it. Although she loved the note, he had gotten the band name wrong. He had found music he thought she liked but actually had never heard of. It was the thought that counted and she told him so. He was pleased it turned out as it did but he also looked up the correct band. He liked them as well. He put his hands on her hips and kissed her gently on the lips. It was the little things that mattered.
Two days later, he received a note from her. She had written him a thank you note for showing interest in her music. She used lyrics from the band he had mistakenly researched. She had listened to them because he had. So now, they both listened to a new band that they found trying to please each other. Little things like this are more important than they seem for it is the little things that matter. She put her hands on his shoulders and gently kissed him on the lips. She was beaming after she kissed him and he couldn’t help but smile. He was thinking about how he loved her and how he wished all mistakes turned out so well.
